About
Agatha Prieto Jeanty (b. 1998) is working across art, design, and cultural institutions, she is developing a research-based practice that examines how histories, memories, and embodied experiences shape our understanding of space, culture, and belonging.
She has a multidisciplinary practice looking from the prism of decoloniality. Her policultural stance travels from the West to the Caribbean and back. Through her artistic and design research, Prieto Jeanty examines how care, identity, and cultural memory intersect with the built environment. Her work explores how spaces and practices can be reimagined to center overlooked forms of knowledge and create more inclusive, culturally responsive futures.
Her work questions knowledge systems and revisits fugitivity through the female caribbean gaze inviting a reimagining of how multicultural identities can reshape the space. Influenced by Afrofuturism, her work intertwines contemporary narratives with ancestral wisdom, envisioning different knowledge structures that challenge historical narratives. In her practice, she inquires into what has transpired historically and contemporarily, pondering what has occurred in the past through meanings that resonate in the now. How spaces hold collective memories, and how diasporic identities are continuously reshaping them through movement, adaptation, and cultural exchange.
Agatha holds a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and an MA in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven. And has been the Coordinator of Public Discourse at rearc institute where she supported the inclusion of underrepresented perspectives in conversations around the built environment and climate change building bridges between the Global Majority and the North. In 2025, she received the Talent Development Grant from the Stimuleringsfonds Creative Industries NL.
